Damn, I'm old.  I know I'll look back on this in 5 years and go wtf? But yeah, today's my birthday and I hit 35.  It sure beats the alternative though, right?

Chris took Brielle to her soccer game so he was gone when I woke up, but I came out of the bedroom and the breakfast table is all decorated and loaded with gifts.  There's a cake and 3 mylar balloons.  So sweet.  I'll post a pic later after we take the top off the cake.  Also, yesterday a lady holding a basket of flowers showed up at my front door and asked me if I was Lynn.  Chris' mom sent them to me...she sends a card with a check every year, but I haven't cashed the checks in the past 3 years so that explains why she sent the flowers, ha.  A card would be just fine, you know?

Chris and I are going to Grand Casino Coushatta in Louisiana for the weekend.  I am really excited!  He initally had a romantic cabin in mind but I told him that would be better for Valentine's Day or our anniversary.

In other news, I know I haven't updated in a while.  Things are going really well.   I'm currently going to school M-Th for MA so I can continue onto to Radiography.  I wasted a lot of time the past 2.5 years, otherwise, I'd already be certified. :P  Chris went into business for himself more than tripling his salary and he's really enjoying it.  Our goal is to pay our home off this Spring.  No mortgage payment will be really sweet.

I haven't checked the weather forecast, but I hope it doesn't rain in LA this weekend.

Ha, I just went through the archives here and read some of my older entries--what a dork I am.  And some of the things that I thought were funny are so ridiculous now.  For instance, I thought the t-shirt that said "I love you like a fat kid loves cake" was so hilarious.  I guess that's how it goes, though.

Chris is gone for the week so it's just the kids, cats and myself at home.  He's in Alabama working for the dept of defense.  I personally have nothing against the state of AL or any of the residents, but when Chris updates his status on facebook, everyone is like.."OMG, whaaaat is in ALABAMA??!"  I guess it's rather funny...or not.  He's working, not vacationing.  It's all geography anyway, right?

Anyway, I'll be taking some classes at the local college for the Fall semester so tomorrow I have to go register and fork over the money.  It'll be nice to be back in a classroom for a little while.  I'm sure this will change, knowing me.

How weird is it that I'm happy tomorrow is trash day? I'm always elated when I remember to yell at the kids on Weds and Sat to get the cans out to the curb.  :P

I need to get out a little bit more.

My feet are killing me.  It's 3am and I'm awake thanks to that iced caramel macchiato I got from Starbucks tonight.  Anyway, the feet...yeah, I took Brielle to the mall to get school clothes and we shopped for almost 7 hours.  That's a lot of freaking shopping.  $1K later and I am almost completely finished with her.  She needs one more pair of shoes to wear with a couple of her outfits.  And I get to do this all over again tomorrow (or today, actually since it's after midnight).  I have to take Cody to the same mall and get all of his crap.  He's a really sucky shopping buddy.  So not interested at all which I suppose is a typical guy's attitude.  Maybe I'll get lucky and he'll just get everything from Hollister or Abercrombie and then we can run to Footlocker for shoes.   Brielle and I went to Dillards and they had the ugliest shit ever.  I got a pair of Levi's jeans and one shirt for myself, but all the other stuff was really fugly.

Chris is working sooo much lately I feel like I haven't spent much time with him at all.  On the bright side, we are working toward paying our home off and we're getting close rather quickly. :)  Our mortgage payment is pretty steep and it'd be nice not to have to deal with it every month.

Oh, I saw a shirt today that read:  "I'm ashamed at what I did for a Klondike Bar."

Ha.  I thought it was pretty cute.  I wouldn't wear it because I hate when people read my chest, but it was still cute.

Anyway, that's it.  This entry sucks like all the rest of my entries and I guess I'm going to finally go to bed now.  :P

For the time being:
  • I loooove "Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon (and I love KOL).  I'm not embedding a YouTube video of it here because I'm cool like that.
  • Chris is doing classified work for the government (Missile Defense Department, or whatever).  It's all classified crap so I'm not exactly sure what he's working on.  It's a long contract and he's being compensated very nicely.  He's done this type of work in the past.  And that shit is classified, too.  So whatever.  I think I'll be traveling with him next week, though.
  • My fucking Facebook account is like being in high school again.  It's all about High School and everyone posts photos from then and wants to talk about all the memories.  That's great and all, but damn people...move on.  I still loathe the same idiots that aggravated me back then.  Also, why does everyone make it all out to be better than it really was???
  • I wanna punch someone.
  • My baby is turning 16 this Saturday.  My. Baby.  Wow, how time flies!  Since he got his learner's permit in February and he has to have it for 6 months before he can apply for a Driver's License, he won't be able to do that until August.  We got him a Dell 17" Studio Laptop for his birthday and we'll get him a car before school starts.  He chose Ichibon for dinner and then we'll head to Kemah Boardwalk and ride The Beast.  Chris and I have boring kids, imo.
  • In 2 years Cody will be headed to college.  I am SO dreading that.  And I know, why worry now since it's 2 years away.  But yeah, 2 years is not far away at all.
  • It thundered here for a good 30 minutes and then rained for about 20 seconds.  The bark was much worse than the bite.
  • The kids and I saw Cirque du Soleil's Saltimbanco this past Sunday and it was soooo good.  I bought 3 tickets in the 5th row for $450 and when they arrrived, the face value was $75.00 each.  I hate people.  I bought them from StubHub and wasn't aware it's a site for people to sell their tickets. Makes it easier for scalpers.
  • I read this when I'm bored.
  • Chris and I took the kids to see Harry Potter at the theatre and I almost fell asleep twice.  It's just not my thing.
  • And that is all for now. :)

I never post anymore...why now, right?  But, very briefly:

Houston has been getting a lot of rain lately; the ground is saturated and our pool runneth over.

I will find out next week if I am pregnant!  (Yes, we've been trying because my biological clock is screeeeaming at me).

I'm afraid to go anywhere unnecessarily because of swine flu.

And that is all.  I have hiccups and it's hard to type, lol.

I caught the last part of Shrek today and I've decided that I hate Cameron Diaz's voice.  A lot.

Also, I now have a 65" flat screen HDTV in my bedroom which means I may really never leave my bed.  :)

Cody has 4 days left of his driver's ed class before he moves onto the driving part.  Yay.

I'm such a dork--I love these Copic Sketch Markers like a retard loves hugs.

I currently have 202 and I know you're all 'what does she do with them?'  I mainly journal, scrapbook, and use them with rubber stamps to make cards.  Copic makes 322 and it's sort of become a challenge to just slowly collect ALL of them.  At $6 a pop (yes, each one) it's kinda pricey and I've noticed a lot of the colors are very much alike.  I have like 4 reds which all look about the same.  :P

I'm going to see Bride Wars tomorrow at the theater.  The last movie I watched was Marley & Me and I swear, everyone in the theater was crying at the end.  It was a pretty good movie, though.

Anyway, it's after 3 AM and I better go to bed.  I'm not really tired because I had a Starbucks latte at 8:30 tonight.  I don't know why I do things like that.

You Remember 90% of 2008

You were paying attention during 2008.

And you remember what happened really well.

You'll be able to talk about 2008 for years to come...

Even when most people have forgotten what went down.

It's almost 3 AM, I can't sleep and Paula Abdul is on the TV right now and I just noticed she has an Adam's apple.

Yes--I had to document this.

Today is Brielle's 10th birthday! I got up early and made her breakfast and dropped her off at school. Her main gift is that Chris and I re-did her whole bedroom. We painted the walls pink and purple. We also got her new bedroom furniture and bedding (and lots of other junk). It is so cute! I'll have to post pics soon. She hasn't been allowed in her room since Sunday so it will be a surprise today. I am going to put a big pink bow on her door. We always let the kids pick where we go to dinner on their birthdays and she chose Red Lobster (she usually picks Asian City which is hibachi-style).

Anyway, I will be really busy the rest of the day. I am so happy Chris took off work to help out. We have some last minute things to do and I have to pick her cake up today at 2. Since her birthday fell during the week, we told her she could have a Halloween Party / sleepover (actually, we gave her the choice) instead of a full-blown birthday party (I hate that shit...throwing them or having to attend them).

Oh, also...I got my new Dell laptop yesterday (early buttday gift from Chris). It is so coolio. It's the 17" Studio with Sunburst pattern and it has the dual core processor and 3GB of memory. It blazes. I love it.

This post sucks but I have to run.

Wow, my Sidekick's web browser is pretty effing fast at 4 am. :)

We still don't have power to our home. It was restored last week for 47 hours and went back down. If you look at Hurricane Ike's path, that lousy bastard walked right through our front yard. Thankfully our home was spared...but I can't say that for the big oak tree we used to have on the side of our house and the kids' trampoline got pretty messed up. Also, my 14 yr old goldfish died from lack of oxygen. :(

I'll post more (including pics) when everything is back to normal.

PS- a cat bite to the leg hurts worse than a copperhead bite to the foot.

The kids go back to school this Monday.  Summer flew by.

In other news, I posted this to [info]embodiment.

I am rather bored at the moment.   We didn't really plan anything for this weekend other than BBQing and swimming tomorrow...and that does not sound appealing.  It sounds hot.

Anyone else here watching BB10?  Who do you hope wins the half mill.?  My bets are on Renny.

Chris worked 15 hours today.  : /  He has put in so much overtime the past 2 weeks that we may just retire off of his bonus check this quarter.

I am obsessed with Phil Collins again.  I do this every few years.  I've been listening to Everyday on repeat.  Bored much?  Nah.

Also, it has rained so much lately and the frogs must be loving it because it sounds like we live in a damn swamp.

Okay, I've changed my layout and I haven't yet decided if I like it.

Also, I am ready for summer to hightail it to another country.  I am really tired of the heat, and while I dread all of Fall's leaves, it will be nice to have some cooler temperatures.  My electric bill was $630 in June and $755 for July.  We are energy hogs I tell ya.  :P

Chris and I opened a separate checking/savings account yesterday, also known as our Hawaii Account.  We are planning to visit for at least 10 days next July.  We hope to fly to Honolulu on July 1st and stay at the JW Marriott Resort for 7 days and then make our way over to Maui for 3-4 days before we fly back home.  We're taking the kids with us which doubles the price of almost everything.  Anyway, Chris and I will celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary on the same spot we exchanged vows.

And I'll shut up about it all for now. it's so many months away...but it's nice to look forward to.

By the way, are you going to participate in [info]embodiment(or are you doing so now?).  I've been a member for a while, but just recently starting updating my journal.  I plan to post there in the near future.
